SCH.cx – Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Officially Supported by Linux Kernel Version 5.12. In the Linux 5.12 kernel merge window, a lot of new hardware began to be supported, including some well-known products such as Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, in addition to some code additions related to the ARM platform and device tree. Various kernel pull requests from Arnd Bergmann were merged on Saturday night, after a severe winter storm hindered the work of the merge window, which caused a delay of nearly a week for the new version.
Some of the ARM/DT highlights of Linux 5.12 include:
-The kernel has reduced 214,000 lines of code and deleted many old/outdated ARM platforms. This time, EFM32, PicoXcell, PRIMA2, Tango, U300, ZX, and ARCH/C6X were canceled.
-Support Intel eASIC N5X card. The eASIC N5X lineup is the structured ASIC technology announced by Intel last year.
-Support PineTab in Allwinner’s A64 code, which will be used in early tablets.
-The NetGear R8000P Nighthawk X6S WiFi router can now run the mainline kernel, which is a high-end consumer-grade router for $299.
-Provide support for the hardcore ODROID-HC4 development board.
-Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC began to be supported by the kernel, and Qualcomm SDX55 5G modem was also supported by the mainline Linux 5.12 kernel.
– main support ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser, a plus 6 / 6T, BQ Aquaris X5, Sony, and other variety of Kitakami powered by Qualcomm chip smartphone.
-Purism Librem 5 “Evergreen” smartphone batches can now use the mainline NXP i.MX8 code.
-Altra ARM in Ampere Mount Jade server is now supported.
-The new version of the kernel now supports the Zynq ZCU104 reference platform.
-Support Allwinner H616 as a video decoding SoC for the OTT and IPTV markets. The SoC has a quad-core Cortex-A53 processor and Mali G31 GPU.
-Support ASpeed AST2600 system recognition.
-Qualcomm SoC recognition can now be used for more hardware.
